Mermaid Blue

Mermaid Blue

One coarse night,

Across the sea, I stare into the dawn

Into the morning we sailors sing our song

The night before the gale was wild and took four good men’s lives

So I sing across the sea our song so you may know that I’m alive

I saw death and graveness, it turned me heart a cold

But I will come as fast to you as my ship will behold

Oh Mermaid Blue, cross the sea I sing to you

Hear my breath in my lungs, feel the dread on my tongue

Your water will is painful, grant this wish, I’d be grateful

Bring my lover’s mind and soul back to me and I’ll be whole

Mermaid Blue

Mermaid Blue

The wind howled fiercely

Through the night into the day

That I got up and walked the cliffs that stare out on the bay

I wished and prayed to God and all the devils in the sea

That they would save you by the favor found in me

I hear a tune whispered through two lips stiff with cold

And as the sound reached my ears I felt a drifting soul

Oh Mermaid Blue, cross the sea I sing to you

Hear my breath in my lungs, feel the dread on my tongue

Your water will is painful, grant this wish, I’ll be grateful

Bring my lover’s mind and soul back to me and I’ll be whole

Mermaid Blue

Mermaid Blue

Well she is a tempest

So cruel and delightful

Borders on our hearts and on the edge of spiteful

The days I spend away from my love are growing dim

Some days I can’t see his eyes or the light I found within

I’d give it all away, trade the mermaid for a charm

That I can hold you once more in the hollow of my arms

Oh Mermaid Blue, cross the sea I sing to you

Hear my breath in my lungs, feel the dread on my tongue

Your water will is painful , grant this wish, I’ll be grateful

Bring my lover’s mind and soul, back to me and I’ll be whole

Mermaid blue

Mermaid blue

I know you are a brave one

But I’m not so sure of myself

There are cradles in the darkness of which I’m afraid to delve

I wish I was as fearless as the mermaid in the sea

Then I would have the power to hold you to the land with me

So I’ll take one more chance, cast my eyes to the sky

A wish is always sweetest when the seagulls cry

Seas like rain

Wind like snow

Mermaid’s Blue

And I am too, and I am too

Oh Mermaid Blue, cross the sea I sing to you

Hear my breath in my lungs, feel the dread on my tongue

Your water will is painful , grant this wish, I’ll be grateful

Bring my lover’s mind and soul, back to me and I’ll be whole

Mermaid blue

Mermaid blue

Oh Mermaid Blue, cross the sea I sing to you

Take the breath in my lungs, taste the scales on my tongue

This water will is painful, grants this wish and I am grateful

Brought my lovers mind and soul

Back to land

Now I

Am whole
